"No problem," the man said nonchalantly. "You can just move anything out of the way. It's pretty much just junk."
Nell chose not to comment. She, for the most part, was quiet and courteous towards the people who paid her money for her work. This man was a new client, but her other employers had assured her that he was a good guy--whatever that meant.
"What's your name? I heard you were called The Fixer, but there's no way in Hell that's your real name."
"It isn't. Don't take it the wrong way, but I make it a point of not telling people. It's safer," The pale girl said with a guilty smile. She brushed orange-brown hair out of her eyes with her forearm.
The man offered a respectful not to tell her he understood her position.
She was already pulling a number of wires out of her backpack. From the pocket of her janitorial jumpsuit, the teal-eyed mechanic drew out a cellphone-like device and began to use it deftly. The man couldn't tell what she was trying to do, and that was probably just as well, as there was no way he could have understood the things that Nell was reading and typing.
He decided to introduce himself. "I'm Richard."
Nell smiled blandly. "It's nice to meet you, Richard. I heard they were calling you Sneak Peek for your talents."
"Not everyone gets an apt name for their superpower," he acknowledged. "I'm one of the lucky few who did."
By this time, Nell had cleared a large workspace in Richard's living area and was unpacking her bag. She was compiling a list of everything she would need. Most of the things that a three-dee holographic projector would require could be bought from 831\1 the robot across town, but there were a few parts that she'd have to special order. That put stress on the girl, who didn't like it when one of her jobs took a long time.
