INTERLUDE: The Contents of the Illusionist-Related Police Reports
OR: The Fixer's and The Afterdark's Pathetic Clues to Seer's Identity
INCIDENT 1: A bank is robbed. No two people offer the same description of the man who held up the building and got away with fifty-thousand dollars.
(This could be him, Derek thought, but it could also be pretty much anyone)
INCIDENT 2: Five people report seeing a dragon fly across the sky before vanishing.
(Not something he'd do, The Afterdark said to Nell, he wouldn't benefit from this)
INCIDENT 3: A woman hears a baby crying and investigates. She finds a crib in an alley, and it vanishes. Other people confirm the story. While she is distracted, someone steals her purse.
(That's pretty lame, says The Fixer. Why would he do that if he can rob banks?
Look at the date, Derek says wisely. It's years ago, probably when he was younger.
Nell takes the report and reads it more carefully. Oh, I see)
INCIDENT 4: A man draws a gun on a police officer, who fires in self-defense and calls for backup as a shoot-out ensues. Back-up arrives and three officers are shot. They then realize that they were never shot and that they were firing bullets at nothing.
(Maybe he was in a bad mood and felt like antagonizing someone, Nell suggests)
INCIDENT 5: A child at a school for gifted/special children goes missing. Teachers do not notice he is gone until they notice that he hasn't moved in a while. Unresponsive, teachers realize that it isn't their student at all, but an illusion of the student.
