“Earlier, when we were dancing . . .”
“What about it?”
“I was wondering if what Nikki said was true.”
“What did she say?”
“She said that it was like you forgot about everybody but me when we were dancing. That you were looking at me almost like Bear looks at her.”
“I did forget about everybody else when I danced with you and if I was looking at you like that then I guess you know how I feel.”
“And how exactly is that?”
“I don’t really know how to explain it except by saying that I can’t keep my mind off of you and ever since I met you I knew that I couldn’t live without you. When Lily gave me her ultimatum I almost felt bad about how easy it was to let her go.”
“It was easy to let Lily leave?”
“It was once I realized that I might have a chance at being with you.”
“You got the short end of the deal.”
“I would do it again.”
“Why?”
“You’re ten times more amazing than Lily when she’s acting.”
“Good joke.” I started to walk forward but he stopped we with his hand in mine
“It’s not a joke. I haven’t thought about anyone but you all day. It’s always like that when I’m with you. I can’t take my mind off of you and when I dropped you off this after noon it took everything I had to leave and not just stay with you. When I picked you up and you looked sexier than should be possible for anyone, I didn’t want to bring you. I wanted to lock you up in your room and stay there with you” He kissed me and when he finished he grabbed my hand to lead me back to the party.

I silently wished that I had convinced him to stay in the meadow with me. It seemed that every person at the party had stopped groping each other or whatever they were doing just to watch us walk up. My face felt hot as I buried it against his neck, trusting him not to let me run into anything.
“It’s okay, baby.” He was laughing at my shyness. He always did.
“If you’re just going to make fun of me every time I act shy why don’t you just break up with me?”
“Because I love your shyness. It makes you that much more amazing, especially when you flirt.” That made me raise my head.
