“I love you. And I want to be able to wake up knowing that I will see you and fall asleep holding you close to me for the rest of my life.” He kissed me then as though he was suffocating and I was air. He pulled away and looked at me.
“But why married? I’ll be yours no matter what.”
“I want it to be official.”
“Can we wait?”
“We can wait as long as you want, but why? Is it your parents?”
“No, it’s me. I’m not ready for all that yet.”
“Alright, baby, we’ll wait. I’ll wait forever for you.”
“Are you mad?”
“Why would I be mad?”
“I just turned down your proposal.”
“I love you. I’m yours no matter what happens and no last name in the world could change that. If you’re not ready then I won’t push you, just let me know when you are.”
“I love you so much.”
“But I love you more.” He meant it. With everything he was he meant it. I could tell it in his voice.
“How about that movie now?”
“Which one?”
“You choose.”
He kissed me softly on the lips and stood. He grabbed the case on top and slipped the disc in. Our favorite movie played on the screen, but we paid no attention to it.
