of me and joined me at the bar. He was smiling as he began to eat.
“What?”
“You smell like Axe. I thought that was a guy thing.”
“Oh well. That’s all there was.”
“I like it.”
“You do?”
He nodded. “Very sexy. In fact, I use the same one.” When he looked at me it was like it had always been, almost. There was something different in his eyes but I couldn’t say for sure what it was.
I picked up my fork and tucked in. He finished before me, as he always did, and began to drink his Pepsi as he watched me finish. Putting down my fork, I reached for my coffee. The first sip was heaven. He was they only one that knew how I liked my coffee, especially this early.
As I was taking another sip he asked, “So what do you want to do today?”
I pondered that while I drank my coffee and then said, “Let’s go out.”
“Out where?”
“I don’t really care, the movies, shopping, what ever.”
“Alright, but you’re not going to want those jeans on, Hun. It’s supposed to be kinda hot today.”
“Well you go cleanup, I’ll change, we’ll do the dishes, and we’ll get out of here. Okay?”
“Alright, babe.”
He ruffled my hair as he passed. I heard the bathroom door close and went to change. My favorite shorts replaced my jeans and a white tank top over a black one was in place of my navy shirt. My shoes and bag were by the door, so I’d grab them on the way out.
When I got back to the kitchen he was loading the dishwasher. He was wearing a black shirt now. I walked over to help him. He looked me over then went back to what he was doing. There was something in his eyes when he looked away that I didn’t recognize. When we were done we started the dishes, left a note and locked the door.
“Am I driving?” Looking for my keys.
“I am.” He said jingling my keys at me as he headed for the truck.
I followed him and climbed in the passenger seat. He turned the truck on and pulled out of the driveway.
“How’d you get my keys?”
“I grabbed them on the way out.”
“Oh. . .Where are we going?”
“Shopping.”
“For what?”
“What?”
