“So what do you want to do today?” Nikki asked as she tried to sound cheerful. I’d already thrown up twice and I knew she didn’t want to do anything to make it worse.
“Can you call Aiden?” I asked weakly while I brushed my teeth for the third time that morning.
“Sure, babe.” She dialed while I finished rinsing. “Hey . . . No, she’s fine, just morning sickness. She wanted to talk to you. Here she is.” She handed me the phone and I mouthed thank you.
“Hello?”
“Hey baby.” His voice made me feel better instantly. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine just feeling a little sick.”
“Is there anything I can do?”
“You already did.”
“How?”
“Your voice made me feel better.”
“I’m glad. Do you need anything? You want me to come over?”
“You don’t have to. Nikki and I were gonna go out in a while.
“How about Bear and I meet you at your house and we’ll go out together?”
“Nikki is it cool if the guys meet us here and we go out together?’
“Yeah that’s fine. Are you sure you’re up to it?”
“I’ll be fine. Nikki’s cool with it too so we’ll get ready see you guys in thirty?”
“Alright baby. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.” I hung up and gave Nikki her phone back. “Let’s get ready.”
She pulled on a denim skirt and a clingy top with a necklace that hung almost to her waist. I decided on a pair of jeans and a cute cami. She helped me with my hair after I did my make-up. We were waiting downstairs when the boys pulled up.
“Hello?” They called as they opened the door.
“In here.” Nikki called. I was nibbling on some bread hoping I could keep it down when they walked in
Aiden’s eyes went straight to me. I smiled at him and he smiled back as relief washed over his face. “Hey.” He almost whispered it.
“Hey.”
“You two are adorable!” We turned to look at her. She was standing in front of Bear with his arms wrapped over her stomach.
“What makes you say that?”
“Just they way you two act.” Bear answered.
