“I’ll see what I can do.”
I watched him as he walked away from me towards the kitchen, moving his six foot and change frame through the packed bodies.
“Hey! You came! Oh my God! I love what you did with your hair!” It was Nikki. Bear stood beside her with his arm around her waist.
“Hey Chica. Hey Bear.”
“Hey.”
“So where’s Aiden?”
“He went to get something to drink.”
“It looks like he found something because here he comes.”
“Are you thirsty, baby?” Bear was always taking care of Nikki. He loved her so much. I’d kill for Aiden to feel that way about me.
“Yeah.”
“Let’s go get something then. Bye Britt you look good.”
“Alright. Later Chica.”
“Thanks Bear. Bye.”
Aiden grabbed me from behind while I watched them walk away. He held me too tightly for a moment with his breathing ragged in my ear then he let go and handed me a red plastic cup. He had one of his own which he tilted back and drank. I drank mine timidly as I watched him.
“I’m going to go find some one okay?”
“’Kay.”
“Do you want me to take you to Nikki and Ash first?”
“No I’ll be fine they said they were getting something to drink.”
“The kitchen’s that way okay?”
“Alright.”
He looked torn for a moment as if he didn’t want to leave me but he didn’t want to stay. I decided for him and walked toward the kitchen and Nikki, not bothering to look back because I knew if he was still there that I wouldn’t be able to leave him. When I saw Bear sudden and intense relief slammed through me.
“Bear!”
“Hey Boo! Where’d Aiden go? He just left to go get you.”
“He said he was going to go find someone. I guess that girl of his is here.”
“What girl?” Bear’s voice showed his confusion. “I thought he broke up with Lily.”
“He did. Now there’s this other girl that he found that’s perfect in everyway imaginable, at least for him and he’s got to have her.”
“Oh. That doesn’t sound like Aiden.”
