Dream
Aiden walked over to me, pulled me out of the chair and into his arms. “Are you feeling better?” He asked as he pulled me against him.
“A little. Did you tell Bear?”
He nodded. “He knows.”
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too baby. I was worried about you all night. I guess I didn’t need to though. You’re always so strong.” He held me tighter as a sort of reverence drifted into his voice.
“Heaven.”
He looked at me, puzzled. I pulled his hand to my stomach and said “Our Heaven.”
A smile drifted across his features. “Sounds perfect.”
“Not to break up anything but let’s go.”
Aiden grabbed my hand to leave and froze. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re not wearing it.” Then I understood I took my hand out of his and fished it out of my pocket and slipped it on my finger. The hurt look didn’t leave his eyes.
“I’m sorry. You said that you wanted to be there when I told them. If I wear it around the house then they’ll know and it’ll be like I already told them without you. I can wear it out and when I’m with you though.”
His eyes softened as I spoke. “I’m sorry baby. I’m making you upset.” His hand went to my stomach where Heaven was sleeping. “I should’ve known there was a good reason. I just love how it looks there.” He kissed the finger where his ring rested.
Nikki cleared her throat and we both jumped. “Once again you two are adorable but let’s go! You’ll have all night to be lovey-dovey.”
“What do you mean?” The way they were looking at me made me feel like a little kid instead of a mommy-to-be.
“You’re staying at Nikki’s house tonight and so are Aiden and I so you two don’t have to miss each other.” I reminded myself that I loved Bear and exactly why.
“Why didn’t I know about this then?”
“I told you.” Nikki sounded like she was trying not to laugh at me.
“When?!”
“When we were eating breakfast.”
I thought back but couldn’t remember even one word of that conversation. “I don’t remember.”
“Obviously. We should get going before we can’t do anything.”
“Come on, baby.” Aiden took my hand, smiling when he felt the ring on my finger, and led me away with them.
We took both vehicles in case I started feeling sick and wanted to go home.
