He sat on the bed and pulled me down with him when our clothes were gone. Looking in my eyes, he leaned forward and touched his lips to mine. The kiss took my breath, left me gasping. I felt him pull me close as he lay down. He kissed my lips once more, softly, quickly. My whole body was trembling.
“It’s okay, baby.”
“I know.” It seemed stupid to say but he didn’t laugh only let his eyes rake over me, sending a new wave of trembling through me.
His hands were hesitant on my face as he kissed me. I kissed him back answering his unspoken question. He moved over me then, completing me.
I lay there in his arms later with my heart racing and his breathing ragged in my ear.
“We don’t have to finish if you don’t want, baby.” His voice was rough. He was giving me a chance to get out, to walk away for good. I wasn’t going to take it
“What do you want me to do?”
“I want you to say what you want.”
“I want to be with you forever. So what do you want me to do?” I picked up one of the knives.
“Look me in the eyes and stab me in the heart as you softly kiss me on the lips.” He picked up the other
We rose to our knees facing each other in the middle of the bed. I drew the knife back and he mirrored me. For a moment I was paralyzed there, unable to do anything except look in to the eyes that stole my heart. Then I leaned forward and joined my lips to his, thrusting the knife between his ribs as I did. His movements echoed mine and I couldn’t hold back the gasp of pain. He removed the knife and cradled me close.
“Take it out, baby. Please?” He was in pain just as I was. I wanted to take that away so I pulled it from his heart. His breathing was heavy but otherwise he showed no sign of pain. “Thank you. I mean for everything, for coming here, for doing this. Thank you.” He kissed me then, gently, trying not to hurt me, but it hurt anyway.
I was dying. I could feel it as I watched the blood leave our bodies and stain the sheets bright red then deep crimson. We grew weak as the moments passed. He laid us down and drew me close. My eyes grew heavy.
“Aiden?”
“Yeah, baby?”
“I’m tired.”
“Then sleep, love.”
“But…”
“Go to sleep. When you wake up you’ll be warm and we’ll be together and they’ll never take you away from me again.”
