"A long time ago, I was in an...accident. I... was taken and... almost raped," I whispered the last word. It was really hard for me to talk about. Why did I agree to talk about this?
"What?" he asked, "I didn't catch the last word," I repeated it. "I'm sorry, I still didn't hear it," he said.
"Raped! I was nearly raped! Happy? Now you know what happened to me. I fainted because I was almost raped a couple years ago! I hate interacting with guys because I faint because I was almost raped! Get it?" I exploded.
He looked wounded, shocked, and sorry all at once, "I'm... sorry. I don't fully understand what you went through, but in a sense, I do," I barely understood what I went through; I know my mom was holding back information.
"Well, now you know my secret, you can go shout it to the world. Everybody already thinks that I'm a freak. Go nail the last nail on the coffin," I said. I knew it was unfair of me to say that, but it was the only way for me to be alone.
"Now hang on," he protested. I turned to face him, my tear filled eyes meeting his now smoldering brown eyes, "I said you could trust me and I won't tell anybody. I never go back on my word," I smiled in relief and stepped closer to him then awkwardly wrapped my arms around him.
"Thank you," I whispered, but it was muffled since my head was in his chest.
"What?" he smiled.
"I said thanks," I grinned and lightly kissed the corner of his mouth. That was the extent of our flirting. For the rest of the way to my house, we made small talk. Lame, yes, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I went to bed that night happy and not as fearful of guys. The next morning, I went downstairs and met my mom in the kitchen.
"Lamai, there's something I need to tell you," she said slowly. There was a plate of pancakes and thick cut bacon waiting for me. The news couldn't be good if she was making me my favorite breakfast food.
"What is it?"
"You remember the accident, right? And how I said you were almost..."
"Raped?" I said bluntly.
"Er, yes, well, there's something I didn't tell you..." she said. Fear shot through me, freezing me blood.
"I wasn't 'almost' raped, was I?" I said grimly.
"No, you weren't. That bastard finished what he started," she said, "I'm so sorry I never told you," I put down my bacon and started crying.
