We studied until 8 pm. By then I was getting restless and Ben was sick of studying.
"I don't think five hours of tutoring is healthy for either of us," I said, flopping onto his couch.
"Yeah, but it was definitely better than Thomas' party," Ben said.
"Really?" I asked. I had heard stories of what happened at Thomas' parties. They were not good and if someone from L4L was there, they would be frozen out of the group.
"Yeah," he said, leaning back against the couch, "All people do there is drink, smoke whatever people bring, and then go out back to the woods,"
"That sounds like so much fun," I said sarcastically. Ben's phone vibrated off the glass coffee table. He picked it up and answered it. My head was close enough to his so I could hear what the other person was saying.
"Hey Ben," a girl said, "Where are you? The party is rockin' and its too late for you to be 'fashionably late'."
"I'm at home," he replied, keeping all emotion out of his voice.
"Why?" The girl said again, "There's some pretty good stuff here and I figured that, well, maybe we could hookup tonight,"
"Sorry, Emily, but I'm busy,"
"But, we could become a couple," she whined, "You're, like, the top guy and I'm the top girl,"
"And," he interjected, "I said no. Besides, I found another 'top girl', so hook up with Thomas or something,"
"What do you mean you found 'another top girl'?! I bet it's Ashley," she fumed. Ben looked back at me, smiled, and handed me his cellphone. I gave him an are-you-serious look and he nodded.
"Hey Emily," I said in a fake cheerful voice, "Guess who this is,"
"Who is this? Ashley, is that you?"
"No, idiot, it's me, Sheelin,"
"Oh my god," she screamed, "What did you do to Ben?!"
"Well, I've kidnapped him, wrestled him into submission, tied him to his bed, and I'm about to jump his bones," I lied. Ashley's response was an earsplitting scream. I closed the phone, tossed it to Ben and rolled onto the floor laughing.
Ben wrapped his arms around me and said, "I hope you know you're going to get shit for that at school,"
I hugged him back and replied, "I hope you know I can bring them down,"
"Just don't get suspended,"
"I won't, I have enough self-control,"
"Get a room," Ben's younger sister said. Startled, I rolled away from him and sat up.
Ben snaked his arm around me again and said, "Why don't you and the billions of guys you claim you love get a room too," she blushed at this and ran out of the room.
