"I'm so sorry," she said as she jammed ice into a towel and gently applied it to my face, " I just saw him grabbing you and it made me think of that night and I'm so so sorry I just don't know what happened to me. Are you okay? You're going to have an ugly bruise and oh my god can you forgive me?"
I pushed her hand out of my face and said, "Of course I can forgive you, just don't lose control next time, you could've hurt him,"
"Who is he?" she asked, looking funnily at Dan.
"He's...." I started. I couldn't tell her. Not here, not now.
"Her future boyfriend," Sheelin said lazily from the deck, "or at least he would be if she could tell you that she wants a boyfriend," I stared in disbelief and pushed everyone away.
"Traitor," I hissed and continued my original plan of going to the park.
"Don't walk away again," Dan begged, "Is this what Sheelin was talking about when me and Ben entered?"
I ignored them and climbed over the fence. It would've been more graceful if I had upper body strength, but I got myself over and fell with a thud. My thoughts pounded in my head just like my blood pounded in my veins. Why would Sheelin do this to me? I didn't want Mila to find out, or at least not yet.
The park was beautiful, but empty. What good was it if there was no one to enjoy it? I sat down on a swing and just stared into space. Hands grabbed the chains attached to the seat and gave it a gentle shove.
"Anything you want to talk about?" Dan said.
"It's health stuff," I said.
"Anything in particular?"
"ASD,"
"What?"
"A hole in my heart," I said bitterly. I was going to have to tell everybody eventually, so why not start small?
"Is it... What caused it?"
"They say genetics, but they're not really sure,"
"I'm sorry," he said after a pause.
"Don't be," I laughed, "I'm still the same person. I can still do all the same things and I'm not going to break,"
"Is there anything-"
"That you can do?" I finished, "No... but I have an appointment on Thursday, or five days from now, would you mind being there with me? I... This is all hard for me and I could use some company,"
He smiled. Oh god I loved his smile! "Sure I'll be there," After a pause he added, "Will you come back to the house now?" I rolled my eyes but smiled. Getting off the swing, I took Dan's hand and we left the park.
