Lakas For Life
The next day at school was interesting. The bus was alive with theories as to who the three girls were and if Emily got Chlamydia or gave it to Thomas.
"Is the world just realizing what a slut Emily is?" Lamai asked.
"I want to know who's stupid enough to sleep with Thomas," Mila said.
I pulled them both close to me and whispered, "There are no three girls,"
"What do you mean?" Mila asked.
"I killed two birds with one stone," I replied.
"Oh, what happened?" Lamai asked, clearly intrigued.
"Thomas talked trash about me and Emily tried to steal Ben," I shrugged.
"Damn, remind me not to piss you off," Mila said. She sat back and listened to the chatter. I was proud of my work. At school it was even more intense. Emily was furious with Thomas for 'cheating' even though they weren't going out and Thomas was confused because he didn't know what was going on. The school avoided them like the plague. Emily was walking in front of us, head down and walking fast.
"Don't get too cocky," Mila said under her breath as we entered first period. I nodded and sat down. Since we had already taken our midterm, we were allowed to either work on our homework or talk and of course our class chose to talk.
"So why'd you send me that video?" I asked Mila.
"Because I wanted you to know,"
"Know what?"
"What he's capable of,"
"You think he's going to physically hurt me?" I was appalled. Ben was the kindest soul ever. He'd never hurt me.
"No, I want to recruit him," she said bluntly, "I saw how he handled Thomas. He kept his cool for the most part, he demonstrated his strength, and we all know he's smart,"
"That's it?" I asked. I didn't know if he wanted to be a part of this and I didn't want to be the cause of his social demise.
"Well that and he's... yours," she shrugged. I privately smiled.
"I'll talk to him," I said. For the rest of first period, I was giddy. Giddy because Mila was willing to let him in. Giddy because there was a chance he could join. But I was also scared. Rejection was a bitch and I didn't want to deal with anymore. I was also scared because I didn't want him to get into something he couldn't handle. I also didn't want any extra attention to L4L. We'd gotten plenty of looks yesterday. Some were looks of awe, some were curious, and some were the are-you-serious type of look. If only we could harness that attention and use it to bring another issue to light.
