mentally strong too,"
"So do think I could become a Lakas?" he asked.
"Well," I began slowly, we hadn't really thought about recruiting more people lately, but why not start now? "If you really want too..."
"I do," he said solemnly.
"Then, Josh, welcome to Lakas for Life. You ready for your first test?" I grinned wickedly.
"Oh god, what do I have to do?" he said, leaning against the wall.
"It's tattoo time!"
After we changed out of our gym clothes, we headed back to Ink It Up Tattoo.
"Hey, Shay," I called into the store.
"Hey Mila," she said, wiping her hands on her plaid skirt, "Are you having an issue with your tattoo?"
"No, but I was wondering if we could both get tattoos," I said, hoping she could take us.
"Yeah, come on back!" she said, walking back to her station. "So what do you guys want?"
"I want an ankh right here," I said, gesturing to the area above my right breast.
"And I want L4L on my wrist," Josh said.
"Okay, and who wants to go first?" Shay asked. Josh took a deep breath and stepped forward. Shay beckoned for him to sit and he did. I could see the pain in his eyes, but that's one of the requirements of being part of the Lakas. I liked that term. The Lakas. The Strong. It sounds mysterious and fearful. Even elegant, perhaps. When Josh was done, it was my turn. Shay tossed me a tank-top.
"Go change," she said, "I'm not tattooing your boob in that shirt. Plus Romeo over here would probably end up blushing too much," Josh blushed at this and turned so I couldn't see it, but I did. Smiling, I changed and sat down. Ready for round two. Shay drew it on and asked for mmy approval. It was great. I nodded and held my breath. It actually didn't hurt that bad; I guess having fat where you want a tattoo is a good thing! After a while, I got used to it and I almost fell asleep. Once I was done, I handed Shay another wad of cash.
She grabbed my arm and whispered, "I know you like him and he likes you. Be careful." then louder so Josh wouldn't think we were up to anything she said, "See you at the next family reunion!" We left and Josh walked me home.
"So I'll see you tomorrow?" he asked.
"Yeah," I blushed, "I'll also be at the gym in the afternoon if you feel like boxing,"
