Lakas For Life
"Because you stick up for her, but when the old dragon attacks your daughter, your ONLY daughter and your ONLY child, you retreat behind your paper and act like nothing's wrong," I said defensively, "You know what? I think you guys deserve some time to see what life would've been like if you didn't have children," I ran upstairs and grabbed a bag out of my closet. In case of emergencies, we had bags prepared with cash that would last us for a week without a job and enough clothes for five days. This way we could leave and go live with someone from the group if things got tough at our homes, like now for instance.
I ran back downstairs and out the back door. I was supposed to meet Ben at the library right now, but I still had my twenty minute walk in front of me. My plan was simple; tell Ben what had happened and reschedule, then head to... Mila's house... shit. I guess I didn't think this through all the way. Mila's house was the one house we were all welcome to. We were supposed to go there if situations like this ever occurred, but since I had pissed her off, it might be a little bit hard. I knew my dad would be looking for me so I took the back route. I ran across uneven terrain and prayed that my days of cross-country running would come in handy. Fortunately, the run cut the twenty minutes down to ten. Unfortunately, I was sweaty and disgusting by the time I made it.
"Hey," Ben said worriedly, "What happened?"
"Long story," I wheezed, "Family shit. Going to...see if I...can bunk with... Mila. Sorry I...didn't call," he led me over to a bench and sat me down.
"So I take it we'll have to reschedule?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry, but I don't have any of my stuff and I need to see if Mila is still pissed at me," I said. I finally had caught my breath.
"Why don't you stay at my place?"
"I'm supposed to go to her house in case of an emergency," I said, "It's one of the things we agreed upon when we joined L4L,"
"Can I at least drive you there?" he asked. I was about to say no, but then I realized my dad would probably be looking for me.
"Yes," we got up and headed over to his car. It was a dark grey Mercedes. I'm not a car person, so I have no clue what it was, but I know some car logos like Dodge, Toyota, Mercedes, Audi, Subaru, etc. I had sat down and he was walking around to the other side when guess who showed up; Emily. The windows were tinted so I could watch all the action unfold.
"Ben? Wow, what are you doing at a library?" she asked.
"Going home," he replied curtly.
"You're so funny!" she laughed in that annoyingly fake, high voice, "But what are you really doing here?" She sat on the hood and stretched so her boobs were pushed out.
