"Don't take this the wrong way, but you're the leader of your own group and I didn't think that you'd want to give that up," I began.
"So you didn't offer?"
"I'm sorry if I don't take rejection well," I retorted, tears in my eyes. He stopped us and spun to face me.
Studying my eyes he murmured, "It's just like before,"
I tore my eyes from his and wiped away the tears and said, "What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about the night I held you and declared my love for you. Well, I'm not sure if I declared it, but I made it pretty obvious that I liked you,"
"So," I snuffled, "Would you like to join? Mila asked me to ask you so think about this carefully because you don't have to prove yourself. She saw your conversation with Thomas so-"
"So /she/ told you," he said.
"Yes, so she knows that you can control your emotions, though you might need a bit of help with keeping it out of your voice, she knows you're physically strong, and you're one of the smartest people in our grade so she knows you're mentally strong. All that's left is a tattoo," I smiled weakly.
"Tattoo?" he asked. I stepped back and showed him my tattoo. "So I have to get one of those too,"
"Yup,"
"Exact same spot?"
"No clue, take it up with Mila,"
"Let me think about it for a bit, okay?"
"Yeah," I smiled, but it was an empty smile. I could slowly feel my heart sinking.
"Hey," he said, looping his arm through mine, "I mean it, I want to think about it. This isn't a small decision that I can make right here on the corner of," he paused to find a street sign, but was unable to. "Well, I'm not really sure which street we're on, but you get my point. Lets just enjoy the evening," I smiled again and we continued walking.
