Wait did he just say that someone actually wants to work with me? Please just kill me now. The reason I stopped talking in the first place was to give people the excuse they were looking for to not have to talk to me and so that I would never be bothered when I didn’t want to be. In the beginning (when dad first died) Charlie made me learn sign language. And me being immature (and sober) decided to learn it for him. But now I never use it because why would I waist my energy like that? Charlie sometimes tries to guilt me into using it but it never works.
"Yes, yes we do have a student that is willing to work with Lucy here" Mr. Brady says. Come on; come on who is this person? It better not be any one I truly hate (I hate everyone but there are few that I truly hate) or this is going to be a very long semester.
"It's alright Mr. Ansely Parker I can deal with Lucy here, you can go back to whatever you were doing before" Mr. Brady says. At about this moment student’s start trickling in to their seats. This better not turn into a hug drama before the class.
"Are you sure?" Mr. Ansely Parker says to Mr. Brady while looking at me.
"Yes, yes we'll be fine" he says at the same time I nod my head because I know that the question was really directed towards me. Mr. Ansely Parker gives me one more questioning glance before leaving. I roll my eyes at him.
"Ok then, call me if there are any problems" he gives me an encouraging smile (well to him an encouraging smile) and leaves.
"Ok now, Lucy is it? Now that the principal is gone and pleasantries are over with let’s cut to the chase. I know the exact situation that you are in. All of the teachers you have, have been contacted about it and we had a meeting this morning" Wow, I’m famous "but that does not give you an excuse to slack off in class, I am not going to go easy on you and I will not tolerate any tomfoolery" Tomfoolery? Who says that? "Even though some of your teachers might say that you can go to them for anything, I am not... at all. If anything I am saying the exact opposite. Refrain from telling me your personal business. I am not your counselor and I am not your father" Dad..... The teacher's were obviously not informed well.
