"I'm...not... sure..."I say with complete and udder hesitation.
"What do you mean?" He says and then changes his voice to an imitation of mine "'I'm not sure.'" Dominic looks down at me and gives me one of his cocky smiles "Don't you want to be with me anymore?" I swallow hard before I answer and think through what I am going to say. Dominic can get upset pretty easily and then he'll lose his mind.
"I want to be with you, it's just that Charlie--"
"Your brother is keeping you from me?" He almost yells. He has that angry look in his eye. I have to act quickly.
"NO! That was stupid to say; no he's not keeping me from you. Please forget I said that, please!" I try pleading with him. It usually works when he is in a good mood. He looks at me and tries to see if I'm being truthful.
"I could kill him just to get him out of the picture if that's what the problem is." He says to me while inspecting his nails. I suck in my breath. He looks at me with a disapproving look. "But I won’t because I told you; I'm in a gracious mood tonight. But," at this point he is whispering in my ear "if you ever try to leave me without my permission again I will kill your brother and then maybe along with you. So you better not try anything funny, got it?" I just nod my head in response. I am too stunned to talk. I am paralyzed with fear. He takes a step away from me and sits in the chair that is next to my bed.
"Look at me Lucy," he says nicely, but I don't, "I SAID LOOK AT ME!" I look over at him just because I am afraid. But as I turn my head he slaps my face with all the force he could. I knew it was his strongest because I have felt this before. "You do what you’re told girl, or you'll find yourself in a really bad position," he says to me.
