"Ok then when are you going?" I say.
"In about 20 minutes" with that he left my room to leave me with my thoughts. Oh how he tries to protect my innocence. But it doesn’t work because he doesn’t control my life; he's not my father no matter how hard he tries to be.
I wonder... I leave my room and go down the stairs to the kitchen. The maid is there cleaning the stainless steel appliances and white counter tops. I open the fridge (making sure that I leave plenty of fingerprints) there is nothing in there. He is going to be at the store for a while. I go back up to my room and put some warm clothes. As soon as Charlie leaves I’m heading out.
"Lucy I’m leaving!" Charlie calls up to me. Just in time. I go into my mom’s room and pull out some cash that she has hidden in-between her mattresses and go down the stairs to watch his car go down the street and turn left to the store. Now I can make my escape. Well since my car won’t be here for another 3 days I have to take mom’s backup car, the corvette. I know that taking that car isn’t the smartest decision considering I am going to a bad part of town but I can’t walk there.
