Chapter 7
CHARLIE
"Hey! Charlie let me help you move into your new humble abode. Or are you too man enough to let a little old girl like me help a big macho man like you?" I turn around and see Karen standing there by the door with her hands on her hips. Karen is never standing still. She is always flying across the room doing one thing or another. Truthfully she is a crazy person. But that is what I like about her most. I knew that if I did not let her carry a box or too that she would just do it anyway.
"Sure Karen just grab that box in the passenger seat in my car would you?" I say. She gives me a big smile then dashes down the stairs to my car. Moving out of the house was one of the hardest things I have had to do in my whole entire life. I know doing it hurt Lucy so much but I had to leave. I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders from taking care of her, the house, mom, and everything else. I had to move out; even if something did happen I am only 15 minutes away. I felt like I was drowning.
"Here you go where do you want me to put it?" Karen said from the door. I look over at her.
"Over there on the kitchen table" I say. Karen, no matter how crazy she might be, she is my best friend. She actually lives in the apartment next to mine. She really is the best though. We have grown up together and have been through thick and thin. She was even there when dad died.
Karen has curly red hair and has freckles all around her cheeks and nose. Though she is a very beautiful girl she is a total tomboy. But that’s ok because it totally fits her personality. She is studying art and sculpting at the college that I am going to. She is a really good painter. I think that she is going to be famous one day; well I hope she will be because that would be great.
