"You ready to go my friend?" I turn around and Karen is standing there.
"How did you get in?"
"I know where you hide your key Mr. Under the pink flower picture" then she laughs.
"You little sneak!" but then I turn away from her. I feel so guilty. Tonight is the night that I always dedicate to Lucy.
"What is wrong?" Karen comes and puts her hand on my shoulder and then turns me around to face her.
"Tonight is Wednesday game night." I see the knowing in her eyes. She knows what tonight is. She turns away from me for a second and then turns back.
"Go to her it’s ok. I’ll get to sing again some other night and I know what Wednesday nights mean to you that is why I was worried to ask you in the first place." But then I see the look of hurt in her eyes. I can’t leave her, not tonight.
"No that’s ok. Lucy needs to grow up and that is why I moved out. So I can do things when my friends need me. No I am coming" I say. My decision feels right. Dad needs to be moved to the past. And we all need to move on.
"Alright but only if you are sure"
