"I don’t know he just came at me!" Derik says. I stand up.
"That is crap!" I yell at him.
"Hey! Hey!" Coach yells. We stop yelling. "You guys are acting like a bunch of girls. Now let me tell you. If this doesn’t end right here right now you are both kicked off the team. Now I don’t want to do that because we need you, especially you Seth. So get it together. Both of you." Derik and I shake hands. I mumble I'm sorry and he mumbles I'm sorry too. Coach nods for us to leave. I let Derik exit first. I hesitate before leaving but I go back and sit down. I don’t say anything.
"I should have kicked you off you guys know that right?" Coach says
"Yes sir"
"But I didn’t. Now tell me what really was going on".
"That’s ok Coach. I don’t want to nark on my guys. The problem is settled. It won’t happen again. But could you tell me why we aren't kicked off?"
"You know as well as I do that you should be but we are a family here and I want to keep the family together. And because we need you Seth. Does that answer your question?"
"Yes sir"
"Ok well why don’t you head home and cool off. You guys were just going to scrimmage."
"Yes sir" I say then get up and leave. I nod at the guys then head into the locker room and change back into my clothes. My nose is all bloody so I clean that off and then head out to the parking lot. She is there waiting for me. I knock on the door and she unlocks it.
"So what did you do?" Lucy says to me. I don’t know why she is talking to me. I guess I somehow got that honor.
