'What the hell just came over me? Why in the world did I just do that?' His eyes wondered down her body. 'Right. Hormonal reaction,' he explained to himself.

Alex walked over to the other side of the horse and cleared his throat before
speaking. “Will you train Cassie?” he asked, gesturing toward the mare.

Elle looked up at him with wide eyes. How in the world was she going to fit that into her schedule? “I’d like to, but training horses take a lot of time, which I don’t have. I can recommend –”

“I’ll pay you,” Alex said suddenly, surprising himself.

“It’s not money I’m worried about, Alex. I just don’t have the time. I have school and work to concentrate on,” she explained, getting a bit annoyed.

“Then we’ll pay you to train the horses instead of being a maid,” he responded.
Elle took a deep breath before answering. She did love horses more than cleaning and it would give her a reason to leave the house and enjoy the fresh air.

“Fine, but talk to your father first. I don’t want to get into any trouble.”
Alex nodded with a satisfied grin. “Alright.”

“Oh my gosh!” Elle exclaimed looking at her watch and startling both Cassie and Alex.
“It’s nearly eight!” Alex tried to stifle a laugh, but Elle saw. “What?” she asked baffled.

“Nothing,” he muttered with a grin.

“Look, just because I don’t have to work tomorrow, doesn’t mean I don’t have other stuff to do,” she scolded pointing a finger at the young heir, who held his hands up in defense. She shook her head and walked around Cassie to hand back the currycomb. “I’ll talk to you later,” she said after Alex took the comb. Elle turned around and left the barn, thinking about her term paper.
