Alex sat in the passenger's seat, looking out the window with Andrew's hand resting on hers for the car ride home. The radio was on, playing the latest hits and the soothing motion of his thumb circling her palm gave her a feeling of ease.
The smile that she wore stayed even after she found that Danielle had borrowed a shirt without permission and gave it back with a nasty coffee stain. Alex simply took the garment from her bed, sprayed some stain remover on the light brown spot and gently rubbed it in before throwing it into her dirty clothes. She had been meaning to wash her laundry that week anyway.
Amber knocked on the door trim as Alex sat propped against the wall with a good book in hand. Alex looked up from her daze state and greeted her friend.
"You okay?" Amber asked as she came in and closed the door behind her.
Alex nodded her head and asked, "Yeah, why?" as Amber sat herself on the edge of her roommates bed.
"I don't know, I just noticed that Danny and you aren't getting along that well."
"Oh," Alex replied sitting up in a cross-legged position. "I'm not sure what her problem is, but don't worry about. We've been friends for a long time, we'll get overt it."
"I don't know," Amber began with a sorrowful tone with her eyes casted downward. "She's been talking about moving. She says she can't live with you anymore." Amber's eyes met Alex's pained ones and asked, "What's been happening? I mean, why aren't you guys getting along?"
Alex sighed and asked, "Do you really want to know? I don't want to tell you unless you want to know."
Amber nodded and her roommate began to explain why she had been upset with Danny. She explained what Andrew had told her and how Alex didn't know why Danielle had acted the way she was and it hurt her to even hear her friend say those things.
