"I don't understand it either," Amber said once her friend had finished her story. "It doesn't sound like Danny."
"I know," Alex replied sorrowfully. "That's why I'm so upset. I mean I'm sure she still has her reasons, but the stuff that she told Andrew is.... well irrational and confusing." Alex sighed and looked up at her half African American and half Caucasian friend. Alex may not prefer to hang out with her, but she had to admit, Amber was an amazing person.
"If you want I can talk to her. Ya know to see what the real problem is," Amber suggested kindly.
"Thanks, but I really don't want to get you in the middle of it," Alex replied with a small smile. "Besides, I should probably go talk to her myself. I'm more assertive when I want answers," Alex finished with a light joke, hoping it would make herself feel better and reassure her fellow roommate.
"How 'bout I do for the sake of my sanity, cuz' to be honest, her lack of answers are driving me insane!" Alex and Amber both let out a laugh and Amber stood from her bed. "Alright, I'll leave you to your book, I've got an essay to finish," she said, dismissing herself from the room.
"Okay, thanks Amber."
The dark skinned woman looked back at Alex and gave her smile, replying, "No problem," before exiting.
Alex fell back into the comfort of her pillows, which were propped against the wall, and let out a sigh. She stared at the ceiling for a few moments, thinking of how to approach Danny. There were a million ways, but only one would do the trick. She then thought of the fact that lately, Danny had been spending her days at her friends house. She was only at the College's townhouse complex on the days she had classes and Alex was always stuck at work those days.
"Ugh, why does life have to be so complicated," she mumbled to herself.
