“Who the hell are you?” Alex asked bluntly with a raised eyebrow. Andrew let out a low husky chuckle that she recognized from their short conversation on the phone.

“Nice to see you to sexy.” His voice changed to a more serious tone and added, “I’m Andrew.”

“Oh,” Alex replied softly ending with a small-embarrassed chuckle of her own. “Sorry, I didn’t recognize you without the fedora.” Indeed, she hadn’t. Every time she had seen him with Danielle he had always had the fedora and wasn’t able to see his hair and making his face seem a little different.

Andrew let out a small laugh and Alex went up stairs to switch the books and supplies in her bag so she was ready for her next class that began in three hours. This also was useful for the new information to sink in.

Her feelings were completely frazzled at what had happened. She had been dwelling on the continues eye locking ever since it first happened. What was it supposed to mean? Did it mean anything at all? Alex was the type of girl who had never locked gazes with a total stranger for as long as she did with Andrew. It was weird to be placed in a setting where they would actually speak. She didn’t have a clue as of how to act, but decided that it didn’t matter because she was going to wing it and be completely herself.

Alex took her bag back down stairs and let it fall to the floor in front of the television stand before walking into the kitchen. Andrew followed her there and watched from the doorway as she searched the pantry and the refrigerator at least five times. He noticed that the three girls were missing the most common ingredients; milk, bread and easy meals. Alex hated to cook and when she did she had always made sure that it was something easy like a few pizza rolls with a grilled cheese, cereal or anything microwavable. Her problem had occurred the other day when the milk, bread and microwavable fast foods had vanished.
