Elle didn’t have any time to mourn over her mother’s death before moving in with her Aunt Kate three hours west. She simply packed her bags and drove as soon as she made the arrangements. Elle was a simple twenty-three year old woman. She was always described as a hard worker from anyone who knew her. Elle had been working since she was in high school. She enjoyed being busy and sometimes people said that she would work herself to death if she didn’t stop so many hours while managing to keep up on school work. She was determined and extremely stubborn. Her dark brown wavy hair was constantly held with a hair to keep it out of her way. Elle wasn’t a short and thin woman, but she wasn’t exactly super model material either. Fortunately, she was blessed with a nice hourglass figure and cooperative hair, which made getting ready in the morning much easier.
As Elle finally reached her destination, she could not believe her eyes. The house was very large and she then understood why her aunt was able to get her a job so easily. It wasn’t an easy job and it didn’t seem to be something anyone would be proud of doing, but Elle didn’t seem to mind. It was a job after all and from what her aunt had explained they were going to be very flexible with her hours so she could still attend school. Elle was thankful that she was closer to the campus rather than farther. Time wise, it would be much easier to work into her schedule.
As soon as Elle parked her car, she received a text message from Roger, her soon to be ex-boyfriend from back home. She didn’t bother to read it or reply. She knew what he wanted and he could most certainly wait until she felt like talking to him. Elle lifted herself out of the vehicle and began to take her suitcases out of the backseat. She had shipped most of her stuff a few days before, but the rest off her things were cramped in her car.
“Elle!” cried her Aunt Kate who had suddenly rushed from the entrance. Jumping at her aunt’s unexpected joyful cry, Elle quickly lifted her head, hitting it on the doorframe. She let out a yelp and brought her hand to caress the back of her hand.
“Are you alright?” Kate asked her niece after approaching her.
“Yeah,” Elle replied. “I’ll be fine. Where should I put these?” she asked gesturing at a few of her bags, which sat on the ground.
