"I understand you have an explanation for me?"
On one side of the room, a man was sitting at a dining room table, eyes wide with fear. Opposite this scene, another man stood flanked by two tough looking guards. The second man was the one who had spoken.
"I-I'm not sure what you're talking about."
"The time for games is long past." The first man calmly adjusted his gloves and then turned penetrating blue eyes back to his captive. "I know about the money, and I know you know. Now, you are going to explain to me how 20 million dollars just goes missing."
"Eric. You know I would never- I couldn't ever steal from you. The money, I needed it for some things. I was going to pay you back..."
"When were you going to pay me back? Before or after your little trip to the Bahamas?" He drew a plane ticket from his pocket, then slammed it on the table.
"Oh God!" The man was weeping now, "Eric, I didn't mean to do it. I just needed to pay these guys. They were gonna kill me Eric. You have to believe me."
"They were going to kill you?" Eric laughed, "And what did you think I would do? Give you a big hug and a kiss?"
"No! Eric, we've known each other since we were children. You're the godfather of my son. Please, don't do this!"
"Friendship is about trust Patrick." The henchmen to his right handed him a gun, lengthened somewhat by an attached silencer. He aimed it carefully between Patrick's eyes.
"Eric please! I swear. I can get you the money back. Three, four years, that's all it will take. Just don't kill me! You know I'm good for it. You know me. Don't do this!"
"Really?" Eric lowered the gun a bit, "You promise to pay me back?"
"Yes. Yes yes, I promise. I'll do anything."
"Come here."
Patrick stood, maneuvering as quickly as possible around the furniture and causing himself no small amount of injury in doing so. Tears streamed from his eyes and his face was in a rictus of pure fear and misery.
"Kneel." Eric commanded, once Patrick was within a foot of him, never once lowering his weapon. Without hesitation, Patrick knelt.
"Kiss my feet"
