The man's face lit up with fear for a minute, but he recovered himself quickly and said, "Oh! Come this way sir."
Getting from the loading docks to the central offices took a bit of skill. The aquarium had a series of passages that wound around and through various exhibits and show rooms. Many of the rooms didn't seem to have any purpose. Eric resolved to get a better understanding of the layout in the future.
The man stopped them in front of a large glass door with the words "Director James Oliver" stenciled in large block letters.
"Here you are sir. Mr. Oliver's office. He should be in unless there's been more trouble in the dolphin tank."
"Thank you for your assistance" He said, glaring down at the man in an unfriendly way. Thankfully, the man quickly got the hint and scampered off in the direction he had come.
He let himself in without even knocking. There was no reason for formality. The aquarium was his property, and any business besides his own was secondary.
A small, balding man sat behind a large desk that almost hid him from view. In front of him, a pile of papers was scattered in a semi-random fashion. He looked up at the sound of the door opening and his eyes widened when he saw his visitor.
"Mr. FitzPatrick. What brings you to the aquarium?"
"Mr Oliver." He moved close to the desk, leaning over so he was looking directly in the man's eyes, "I was recently notified that you had hired a suspicious person by the name of Alex Taylor?"
"What? Suspicious?" Mr. Oliver tried to act shocked, but Eric saw through him. He had spent too much time with criminals to not know when someone was avoiding telling him something, or outright lying.
"Very suspicious. There was no job position listed at all. Can you tell me why that is?"
"Well sir, uh, with new hires we sometimes don't immediately list the job position..."
"Bullshit!" He yelled, slamming his fist on the desk. Mr. Oliver jumped noticably, making his glasses tumble down his face briefly before he could nervously replace them.
"I'm sorry sir. Really the p-policy-"
"Don't lie to me. I'm not an idiot, and I won't accept being made a fool of."
