"Now get up and follow me this time."
He stood, only wobbling a bit, then did as he was told. The lake was a few hundred feet away now, and the waves continued to crash violently against the shore. Dark indistinct shapes erupted occasionally, bellowed impotently, and then submerged once more in the lake.
Distracted, he almost ran into his death. At the last moment he turned and saw the looming creature and stopped dead, trying to comprehend.
It had the body of an attractive woman, including shapely arms and legs. However, where a head should be, instead six snakes coiled, fangs bared. A thin green slime covered the entirety, dripping occasionally into the sand where it would cause a dramatic hissing.
Eric noticed the little man had disappeared again. Cursing, he backed slowly away from the snake woman, trying his best to think. Strong feelings of horror kept trying to overwhelm him, and once again he had to fight them back.
Loud booming noises distracted him temporarily from his situation. He looked in their direction and his eyes widened.
The size of the creature was such that as it stepped down out of the forest, it temporarily eclipsed the sun. It had circular horns on its head like a ram, and fangs like a dog. Currently it was looking directly at Eric, stretching its infinitely long arms towards him.
He had only moments to make a decision, but his brain had shut down. The giant hand descended toward him and the snake woman was closing in.
At this point some sort of instinct kicked in. It felt like the time in the lake, when he had rocketed from the dark depths onto the shore. One second he was about to be attacked on two fronts, the next he was in the air, hovering just out of reach.
His motion made a sound that was similar to that of a fly or a bee, but much louder. On the ground, the snake woman recoiled from the noise. The giant just seemed irritated, and reached toward him again, trying to swat him out of the air.
Automatically he dodged, so fast that the giant didn't see him. The hand that had been aimed at him missed, smashing into the snake woman instead. Simultaneously both creatures howled, the snake woman from the impact and the giant from the burning effect of the green slime.
"Well done." The little man appeared again, seeming to float beside him in the air.
