and if she asks me: Will she ever recover completely from it, Will she ever heal fully from the loss, and anger and darkness inside her bones?

I would be honest, and I would tell her "No."

If you cut the skin deep with a sharp shard of glass, it will bleed, and will require stitches. Once those stitches are in place, the skin will slowly start to fuse together. A couple weeks will pass and the doctor will take them out. The stitches will leave an angry red puckered line where the cut was. Over time the angry red will fade to a silvery white, and the bump will smooth out to a barely noticeable raise in the skin. The scar will forever remain, but it will have quieted, and healed.

She will never, ever, be the same again; she will have to deal with the consequences again in the days to come. But in general, will she be okay? Will she learn to live with the loss, will she learn to curb the anger, and let the darkness inside her cede? Yes. She will.

She will find roads to run on, oceans to swim in, and she will turn her face upon the sun and find herself again.
