"Wait! Stop!", came a voice from behind him.
He was still standing on the stop, trying to rub the dust out of his eyes, when something hit him and tossed him over.
He rolled across the stones, tumbled a few more times and landed, face down. He groaned and lay there for a few seconds, and slowly brought himself up kneeling and looked around. The dust around had mostly settled for now, and the street looked empty again, apart from a young lady lying next to him, also face down on the cobbles. She wore a rather plain blueish white dress and carried a small brown bag across her back. He stared, and then, tentatively, reached out and shook her.
"Erm... Are you okay miss?", he said, nervously.
"Mmmm hmmmm", came a response from the face down figure.
"Phew. Uh, I mean, here, take my hand, I'll help you up miss", he stood himself up and offered his hand out to her.
The young lady picked herself up to her knees and looked at him.
"Huh? You're a-", she started, staring at him, then suddenly she put her hands up to her neck and her face changed to one of panic.
"Ah! My necklace!", she looked around turning her head wildly. Then she looked back at the outstretched hand.
"Oh! Ah, thank you", she said, and took the hand, pulling herself up.
Thomas looked up at the young lady in front of him, she looked about the same age as Mari to him. The blueish white dress she was wearing reached down to her knees and on her feet were a pair of blue sandals. Her skin was quite pale and she had dark drown hair which reached down to her shoulders and large bright blue eyes set in a quite pretty face.
She blushed slightly and he realised he had been staring for a while without saying anything, he blushed back.
"Oh, ermm...", he stammered, he didn't quite know why he was blushing, or why he couldn't think of anything to say, then his ears poked his brain with words that he had heard just a moment ago.
"Ah, a necklace? Did that man who just ran by have it?"
"Ye... Yes", she stuttered, slightly surprised, but she seemed to get hold of herself.
"Ah, yes, he was sitting at a table and he noticed it when I walked by, he said it could be an extremely valuable find, but he needed a closer look at it, so I took it off and gave it to him, but then he just ran off without saying anything. I shouted
