Moving up close to the wall he dragged on through the street, until he came to a much larger one that blocked more than half the street. He heard a large amount of 'baa-ing' from it, and behind him Alice was trying to catch her breath. A small distance away the noise of the crowd had been combined with the neighing of horses, snorting of oxen and the cries of various other creatures and their drivers.
"We have to keep moving, they're gonna catch up to us"
"Why? What what did we do?" said Alice, in-between breaths.
"Well, I kinda used some magic, and people really don't like that around here."
"Oh, you mean the that trick with that water? But you didn’t hurt anyone though."
"I think they’ll blame me for that exploding wall as well if they catch me."
This seemed to make her think, or at least, stop worrying about being breathless, as her face seemed fixed in deep concentration. After a pause, she spoke.
"Hmm, but can’t you just tell them that?"
Thomas looked at her in amazement. She didn’t seem to be joking, and she even had a quite serious look on her face. He contemplated what would happen if they faced the crown and tried to calmly explain the situation. It didn’t seem to have a positive result in any universe he could imagine.
"Err..." He scratched the back of his head in thought, "I- I don’t think they’ll believe me."
"Why not?" She looked up at him with bright seemingly innocent eyes. He felt his train of thought, which had already been derailed from her previous comment, smash into a hillside.
"Uhhh..." was all that his brain managed.
Then his ears picked up the sounds of footsteps, moving between the carts and getting closer, causing his instinct to kick in.
"Maybe next time, but we’ve gotta go now!" he shouted. He grabbed her hand and sprinted down the street, despite her cry of surprise. Inside his head, he was really hoping that he hadn’t actually considered it.

Slumped up against a wall, bruised and groaning was Lance Coporal Ashen. As she sat there she managed to think through her day so far. Simply put, it was not a good day, not a good day at all. First off, she had found those two guards tied up and thrown in a fountain, and then the Sergeant apparently turned to stone. Then there had been that godawful Major and his stupid smug face.
