The girl came to the dog and rubbed his ears and talked to him in a low voice. The dog barked a few more times and then stopped and turned to lick the girl's face. The girl giggled and pushed the dog away. Then she opened the gate behind the big animal and went into the box where it stood. The dog watched her rub the big animal's nose and the dog did not know what the big animal was so he barked some more, until the girl shushed him.
The girl left the big animal in its box and went to a room set in the wall of the big building. When she came out she had a bucket in one hand and a strange looking chair in the other. She went back to where the big animal was and put the chair on the ground next to it. Then she put the bucket on the ground under the big animal and she put her hands on the swollen bag of skin that hung from the big animal's belly. She pulled on the bag and a white liquid started to squirt out of the bag into the bucket. The dog took a few steps forward and put his nose out to smell the liquid in the bucket, but before he could get there a stream of the white liquid hit the dog in the nose. The dog jumped back and turned around in a circle, and the girl laughed and went on squirting the white liquid into the bucket. The dog licked off the liquid that had gotten on his nose. It was warm and thick and it tasted good, but the dog did not go close to the bucket again because he did not want to be squirted in the nose. The girl finally stopped squirting the white liquid out of the big animal. She picked up the bucket and set it up on top of the wall of the big animal's box where it was too high for the dog to reach. Then she took the strange chair back to the room, and came out with a big yellow bundle that smelled strange and wonderful. She struggled with the heavy bundle until she got it into the big animals box where she put it in a wooden trough. The big animal stuck it's nose in the yellow bundle and began to pull out tufts of yellow stuff that looked like grass. The big animal made its big low noise and crunched away at the yellow grass with its mouth. The girl patted the big animal on the head one more time, picked up the bucket, and headed out of the barn.
When they got back into the yard the dog saw that there were three more of the dead-things pushing against the fence, and he could smell and hear more of them not far away. The girl said something to the dog, and she sounded very worried. She took the bucket into the kitchen and set it on the counter then ran back out into the yard. By now there were five of the dead-things pressed up against the fence, and the wire was starting to bend in with their weight. The girl took the big fork and stabbed each of them in the head until they stopped moving. Then she pushed them back off of the fence with the handle. Just then, the dog hear the sound of a gun-thing.
