She hasn't come out of the bathroom yet. "Hey are you ok?" I call to her. She pops her head out but instead of the smile that i was accustomed to her eyebrows were scrunched together and she was biting her lower lip. She always does this when she is worrying about something. "What is it Kare?" I start to walk towards her. She holds her hand out motioning for me to stop.
"No stay there." she takes a deep breath "I have to ask you something and it may not be something that you want me to ask." When i dont say anything she goes on. "Charlie, I want you to go to church with me tonight." NO, my brain wanted to scream to her. Over the years Karen became extremely religious and she keeps wanting to drag me into it. She even only listens to christian music. Even when we drive places together and i am rocking out she changes the channel to some softy christian music. Karen has already asked me multiple times to come. I have always always said no. But now as i am looking into her eyes I can tell that this is important.
"Um, I-" I start.
"Before you say no, just know that tonight is a special night, we are going to have a guest speaker and i really want you to be there. And you know how I am on the worship team? Well i get to sing a whole song tonight all by my self and i realy want you to be there to support me. If you dont go for the speaker than please atleast come for me," she rushed through trying to get out all that she had to say before i could get a word in.
"Kare i was going to say ok. Sure i'll come to support you. But dont think that if i come this time i am going to come again" i say. A smile wipes away all the worry on her face. I knew i just made her day. Even though i dont really want to go i have to now. She needs support from me and actually i am kinda interested in what she does every wednesday night
"Ok well thats great! be ready to go by 6:30 we will drive over together if that is ok" she says as she walks up and gives me a hug. The she walks to the door and starts to leave. "be ready for a big party tonight!" and then she left. This is going to be along night.
