The Well Part 2
Tom looked around again. Yes, he was pretty sure that there was no one for miles, just an oasis and a barren desert. Suddenly, a purple dust cloud appeared and POOF! there was a lady standing in front of him, coughing and dusting her Egyptian-like tunic off. "What brings you here?" she asked politely. "We welcome all visitors!" "Well, I fell through a hole in a well and landed here, and I need to get back up." said Tom simply. "Only when you are at your humblest can you come here." said the lady. "But how did you get to the bottom of the well anyway?" " Um, well, I didn't get any water so I looked down and fell to the bottom." he admitted, his cheeks turning red. "The only reason I wanted to get water from the well, was to prove my sister that I could do it, so that she would stop making fun of me. I was especially embarrassed when I was stuck at the bottom of the well, which is why I was at my humblest." "Well, the reason why you wanted to come to the well in the first place was not humble, so that's why you did not get any water in the first place." said the lady. "But you can have water now, so enjoy it. Try using this hot-air balloon so you can float up into the well. It has special crystals to break through the invisible barrier that separates this world from the well." Tom got into the balloon and thanked the lady for everything that she had taught him. Then the balloon floated up very high, and before Tom knew it, he was back in the well with a bucket full of water in one hand, and in the other hand, a clock. He wondered why he had a clock and turned it over. There was a note at the back! It was hard to see in the dark well, but he put it in the sunlight and read it. It said: "Dear Visitor, This is a Time-Killer. You just set how far you want to go in time, and the Time-Killer, literally, kills all that time." He looked at the clock. Barely a minute had past! He knew he must have spend more than a minute in the other world. It was probably magic, like everything else in that world. He used the Time-Killer and could hear his parents arriving. The rope was too slippery to climb on, but he could hold onto it with his bucket in his other hand. He would have taken his Time-Killer with him, but for some reason, it disappeared. He frantically looked for it until he realized that it must have disappeared because of magic. He took the bucket full of water and held onto the rope. He was pulled up and he landed on the grass with the bucket of water. His sister taunted him, but he didn't get annoyed. His father whispered in his ear: "You must have had quite an adventure down there." and he winked.
