07/13/2010: I used to live in a roomful of mirrors, and all I could see was me. I took my spear and I smashed the mirrors, and now the whole world is here for me to see. - Jimi Hendrix
Attachment to my own image of self has been my greatest challenge to overcome. It's one thing to embrace who you are, to love yourself, and to be true to that person. It's another thing entirely to create an unchangeable, permanent facade that requires constant maintenance and protection from the elements.
I've stood in that room full of mirrors, and I have stared deeply into my vision of myself and blinked. I have smashed those mirrors one by one, and I have begun to break out. The escape has already begun, and today was a big step forward out into the light.
There's really only one thing to do after being handed the offer I was just handed, and that's to take it with both hands and start running. I've been evaluated, found to be worthy, and approached by a very successful, very positive, and very forward-leaning business owner. He's offering me a place among his upper managers, essentially sitting within the ownership circle, and the role of taking everything I know how to do and doing it for him.
It's no path to my license, but it's a path to ownership, a release from the trap I'm in here, and a fresh major change. I'll gain exposure to new aspects of the industry, new people, new opportunities, I'll have a chance to re-envision my future away from being a corporate drone. It's done- I'm doing it.
Climb with determination and lightness. Breathe deeply in your exertion and forward motion. Summit with joy and release, then descend like a falcon. This is what I shall do.
