"Hey" I said as she tossed her suitcase onto the bed. Frazzled sparks flew from her hair, whizzing around the room like gnats; pulling the air tight. At the same time though, there were bright blue, hopeful sparks that jumped from her back; like wings. Since it was night and I preferred natural light to artificial, there was little description to be seen that wasn't just her black silhouette against a lamp's ivory light.

She was tall.

"Hello." She said, undoing the old-fashioned latches on her suitcase. "Sorry about waiting until this late hour."

"Eh, it's fine." I said. "Better to meet someone where the situation is mutually uncomfortable."

She chuckled to herself. "Of course."

"Love the suitcase, by the way."

"Thanks." I noticed her hands play with a garment of sheer, lacy material and, without thinking, snorted. The frazzled, violet sparks turned to an annoyed orange faster than lightning.

"Sor-"

"Don't be." She closed her case with the caps of her elbows. "It's late we both need sleep."

"I agree."
