"I HATE you!" I cried, ripping a dirt clod from the earth. "Forget love, I never did that and, because I'm such a damn bitch, never will!" He had pushed me. He had made me care. And I absolutely despised him for that. He was the reason she had died. He was the reason I was questioning my relationship with him. "You RUINED my life." He just rolled his eyes like the egomaniac that he was.

"Really?" He said. "How so?"

"You..." The grass that I had my grip on began trickling between my fingers. "You made me hope."

"Hope?"

"You know, that feeling you get when you believe that something will happen?" I asked. "That golden speck that eventually..." I bit my lip. "Envelopes your entire heart and... changes..."

"Go on."

"God, why?" I asked. "I've just cursed myself and spat out cliches and your expecting me to-" His lips were on mine before I had the chance to breathe.

No.

This couldn't happen.

He was on the ground before he could even think about touching me. "I'm sorry, Evan."

"Don't be." His brown eyes were like lie detectors. He wanted what he couldn't have; what I wouldn't let him have. "I have a flight to catch."

"In five hours."

"Anna, I have to go."
