It snuck threw the door at the very end of the hallway. I looked up at the five flights of stairs, and then looked over at the pole. I flinched as I slid the needle out. When the cold air hit me it felt amazing. Snow covered the whole roof of the hospital. I looked around, and took in the surroundings. That's when I noticed something tainting the pure white snow. A lump of black cloth was bunched near the edge. I cautiously walked closer. I reached out a hand to touch it, but it pushed me away. I fell down, and the snow didn't cushion my fall. A shadow was casted over me. A huge guy was hovering over me. "What are you doing up here?" I ignored him, and looked down at my hand. Blood was dripping from my palm. I dug in snow, and found broken glass. I looked back at me hand, but it still didn't register.
I opened my mouth to scream, but nothing came out. if I bleed to much then I might die. I looked up at the boy like he could do something about it. He had a cold expression on, but breathed a heavy sigh. He kneeled down beside me. "Why did you touch me?" It almost didn't sound like a question, but an insult. He took my hand into his, after he rubbed his own hand against his jeans. "Close your eyes, and don't look." I hesitated at first, but if he could make it stop, I would do anything. "Close your eyes." He said a little more harshly. I did as he said and quickly. I'm not sure what he did, but he did it fast. "Open your eyes. You aren't bleeding anymore." He said it as though he finished a magic trick. I opened my eyes to see a black ribbon around my hand.
He stood up quickly. "Well, aren't you going to say thankyou?" He looked down at me with disgust. What is wrong with me? Am I that bad looking, or was it the blood? I stood up, and dusted the snow off me. He turned away, and started to leave. I haven't talked in about three years, and I never had a good reason to. Right now is theo only time I wanted to. He stopped like he could since I was about so say something. I closed the distance between us in three short strides. I grabbed his sleeve, but flinched just in case he decided to push away. He held his arm there, but pulled it away. I was confused, and couldn't figure out what I wanted to do.
I wanted to thank him for helping me, but he was the one that caused it. "What's your name?" My voice was so low that I wasn't sure if I said it. "Malcolm." He said it coldly.
