A year, or so.
Yesterday had to be one of the best days in my life thus far. I know, it sounds really dramatic, but being with people I love doing things that I love just makes the hard times so much more worthwhile.
In March, Bryan called me to tell me that Jay Brannan was on tour and the tickets for his show were only $15. I was so excited that I said yes right away. He neglected to mention that the show was in New York. When I found that out I was totally apprehensive about the whole ordeal - traveling has never been one of my favorite things to do, especially when I have no idea where I'm going. Bryan assured me that he'd know where we were going and that we'd be safe.
Around 1:30 yesterday Bryan told me we should leave at 3 to get to the train station, so I rushed to get myself ready. I found something to wear (after trying on 4 different things) and then waited for him to swing by. We headed to the train station and hopped on after a slight delay - the ticket window wasn't open, and I only had cash, so Bry had to pay for my ticket. We got on the train, and that's when I remembered that we were meeting a boy there, someone Bryan met online. His name was Jake, and from the pictures I saw of him, he looked like a very sweet kid. He modeled a little, which concerned me, but I figured I'd let it go.
We got off the train and met Jake and Diane (or was it Denise...); Jake offered to show us where we needed to go to get to the concert venue. After walking one block it started to rain. Two more blocks and it was pouring. When Bryan looked at his phone and made a face I knew something was up. "We're on sixth?" Bryan looked up at Jake, trying to shield his face from the rain, "Well yeah," Jake responded, not understanding the issue. "Shouldn't we be on seventh?" Bryan asked, showing Jake the map on his phone - Jake's face dropped. "Oh God, come on," Jake muttered, before backtracking us a block. We crowded under an awning of a building to look at the map. "You're gonna walk all the way there? No, I'm calling you a cab, this rain is terrible." Bryan and I hid in a phone booth from the rain, as we were dressed for the concert and not the weather. As soon as Jake got a hold of one he yelled for us, we climbed in and thanked him, and headed to Bleeker Street.
