Something I rarely bring up in my life is my history with driving. People who have gotten to know me within the past few years rarely know that I don't own a license, and if they do know they never really know the reason behind it. My usual answer is "in high school I never needed to" or "it's just not something I like to do." It's been really nice to not have to explain myself, but now comes the new problem - today I started driving with my dad. I feel like a giddy 16 year old, which bothers me a little, because I just want to have my license so I can be a normal twentysomething and drive. Once I have it, though, I won't have a car to drive, which is a completely separate issue.
Anyway, this afternoon I went driving with my dad. After driving around for twenty minutes, we stumbled upon an old abandoned building. We pulled in just to see what kind of space there was, and we were pleasantly surprised to see a giant parking lot in front of at least 2 yards of space to the side of the building - there was a concrete slab connected to the building where the truck loading docks were, which gave us even more space to work with. For an hour I parked, turned left, and then turned right, and then remembered to use my signal. I got acquainted with my dad's tiny silver Saturn Ion, which was so sensitive I was worried that I was going to tap the gas and wind up running into a tree.
When it was all said and done, I was pretty proud of myself. I haven't driven around in traffic yet, but every little bit counts. I should be okay soon. That is, once I master parallel parking.
After driving, I headed to the mall with Jerry to get a little shopping done. If there is one person in my life whose company I enjoy, it's him. We always laugh, joke, gossip, and have a good time. He originally invited me to go sale shopping at Express, but we wound up chatting with all of my gay boys at American Eagle (on top of me getting a new shirt and a new pair of killer sandals).
My philosophy in life is you only live once and have no regrets. Forget about why people are mad at you and enjoy what your life holds. Forget about the drama and just be in the moment. You never know what may happen.
