Monday was a beautiful day. Kelsi was surprised to see the bright clear sky when she woke up. She thought it was a shame to sleep in so late. Kelsi shook her head, tempting to shake away her strange nightmares. 'It is day now', she thought. 'They were not real', she told herself as flashes of last night's dream appeared in her memories.
Kelsi worked in a lab. Today was one of the few days she got to work on data. It was not as physically tiring, but it was more stressful. The day went by pretty slowly, although not as painful as she expected. She was delighted when Sydney, her coworker and friend, came to her office at half past five. They went to tell their boss that they were leaving together. Kelsi has always been terrified of her boss. Talking to her was always hard for Kelsi. So, having Sydney do the talking was relieving for her. Kelsi's boss was strangely in a good mood that moment, perhaps it was Sydney, Kelsi could not possibly decide. But her boss was very nice about them leaving. Kelsi felt guilty because she arrived late and went out to lunch. But she promised herself she would make it up the next day.
Sydney and Kelsi headed straight to a park near their workplace. The park was next to a small lake. There was also a little trail Kelsi always wondered where it led to. So, Sydney and Kelsi decided to follow the trail. It was a short hike that lead up the to the hill right above the lake. It was beautiful up there, although the trail did not lead to anywhere.
After the hike, Sydney and Kelsi went to a free food event. It was funded by a church Sydney went to. But it was one of the "bring your friends" activities, and Kelsi was of course invited. They had a great time eating taco when one of Sydney's friends showed up. Sydney told Kelsi that he was cute. But he was not. When he left to get some water, Kelsi turned to Sydney, "He's not cute!". Sydney laughed. "I'm sorry", Kelsi apologized, realizing that two of Sydney's guy friends were there. Kelsi usually give no heed to people she had not properly met. They were laughing at her also. "Kelsi, sometimes you have to filter what you say", said Sydney, still laughing. "It's true, and it's not like he heard me!" Kelsi defended herself.
