cheek. "Isn't it a beautiful day?" I asked he happily. She smiled and rolled her eyes. "It would be a beautiful day to you if the world was ending!" she said. I shrugged and got some food. My dad was already at the table reading the paper. "Do you have football practice today?" he asked putting it down. I nodded as I gulped orange juice. "Don't drink so fast; you'll choke", mom warned. I grinned and proceeded to destroy the food on my plate. Finishing it of and dumping it in the sink, I shot out the door to my car, revved it up, and headed for school. I had timed it pretty well by now. I knew that Xiana always arrived early and I loved to be there to meet her. "Hey", she said smiling and walking toward me. I loved her spunk and her I-couldn't-care-less attitude, even thought I knew she did. I wrapped my girl in a intense hug. "You don't have to do this every morning, you know?" she said looking up at me with her blue eyes. "Yeah, but I want to", I said smiling down at her. She shrugged and leaned her head against my chest. The feelings that ran through me when she was in my arms were nothing short of intense. I had to restrain myself. Then she wrapped her arms around my neck. "Your awesome, you know" she whispered. I lowered my hands to her waist and kissed her neck. "No, its you thats amazing." "Hey, hey, hey, no making out in front of school!" Candace admonished. We both laughed and released each other. "You always come at the wrong moments", I said playfully. Candace laughed. "Yeah, whatever...you are not going to hog my best friend!" With that she grabbed Xiana and dragged her into school. "Bye Zane", Xiana laughed. "You always get the best of everything", a voice behind me grumbled. I turned and looked at my so called friend, Cain. "Who's fault is that? Xiana's been here for years", I laughed. "Well...", he grunted, "how was I supposed to know she would end up being really pretty?" I rolled my eyes. "She was always pretty. You just never noticed." He grunted again and sauntered off. "Whats up homie?" I knew without looking that it was Michael, my REAL best friend. "Hey dude". "Still seducing that girlfriend of yours?" he asked laughing. "Naw man, you know I'm not seducing her", I replied punching his arm. "Yeah, whatever", he laughed. "We better get to class before Mr. Burntham really burns us." We both laughed an sauntered through the doors.

I sat on in the bleachers watching Zane's team practice. It was easy to see with just one glance who the team leader was. Every once in a while he would turn back to me to
