Several citizens looked to a little boy climbing on the fountain to catch the confetti. Most of them were family, some of them were friends and they shouted with happiness and cheer. Tavish, the boy's name, reached out a small gloved hand to catch a hand full of the falling confetti. The sky was magic to his eyes. The dimming pink-orange glow of the sky clashed with the rainbow of colors produced by the numerous lights and metallic-looking confetti. Tavish pulled out a small contraption that looked like an over sized pair of green-lens goggles. He slipped a small cartridge into one of the slots on the goggles, gazed up at the scene, and pressed down on a lever that looked like a wire.
Quickly, Tavish pulled off the goggles and smiled. He turned to wave to his parents but they were no where to be found. He looked around the moving sea of people to find the familiar white heads of his parents. As the sky grew darker, all he could see were the faint outlines of heads. He was on the verge of panicking when his sister Victoria pulled on his pant leg. She gave him one of those sarcastic half-frowns with her laughing eyes. The combination was something that he would have taken an image of just to ponder at. Her strange half-frown quickly turned into a smile that showed off her enormous gap where her front teeth would have been if they had grown in yet. She wore a dirty, oil-stained pair of gray overalls. He wore the matching pair. They were green with a diamond-shaped front pocket.
His panic eased as he climbed down the tall statue of the star-cruiser that first landed on the planet. He examined the antique look of it as he descended into his sisters arms. With a small pale hand, she grabbed onto his finely-tanned one and tugged him off into the crowd. Her curly hair bounced this way and that as she ran through the legs of those tall people clapping, dancing, or just moving around. Tavish's hand was wrapped tightly around hers. He loved his sister, even when he couldn't resist antagonizing her.
She lead him deeper into the crowd. Something didn't feel right. Tavish glanced about through the vast sea of legs to look for something that he recognized. Everything looked completely different. He turned around to look at the fountain despite the tugging on his arm from his sister. The fountain wasn't there. In it's place was a mass of blackness that seemed to just get bigger and consume everything. Frightened, he turned his white head to look at his sister. Tavish's eyes widened with shock. That thing tugging on his arm wasn't his sister. It was a twisted an mutilated body with her face on it. Blood seemed to pour out of her eyes, nose, and mouth as she tried to smile and speak to him. "Come brother! Let us find our parents!" She squealed as if she were being tortured. Tavish closed his eyes to let the darkness consume everything. He felt as though he began spinning, and spinning, and spinning. It didn't seem to end until he woke up.
