It may have been delusions from losing so much blood, but Victoria swore that the man had black hair, with icy blue eyes. Black hair was uncommon due to the fact that it wasn't in the gene pool anymore. People had brown to blond hair with the occasional red head those days. She found herself pondering the thought when she heard the man's voice. It was rather low for what she could see of his face. She didn't quite understand him until he started lightly slapping her cheeks.
"Hey, stay with me. I won't have you dying on me," he looked her straight in the eyes.
"My name is Owain, and I am not your enemy," he stressed the fact that he wasn't devoted to the soldiers.
"Owain..." Victoria thought about his name. It wasn't a common one, and it certainly didn't have a Haven-like ring to it. As she continued to think about his name in her weakened state, he had already proceeded to get more help for her.
"I know a good doctor. He'll fix you up. Hey, stay with me. Don't fall asleep," he ordered her. Owain had already lifted her up off of the bloody floor of her brothers' room and had started to leave the garage altogether.
Familiar things passed by. Victoria's head had lolled to one side to watch everything go by as he carried her out of her home and trade. She closed her eyes for a moment, then the scene from before played out in her head. She couldn't even get a wink of sleep before time began to repeat itself in her head. She watched her brother be taken away from her over and over again until she forced herself to wake up. To her surprise, she wasn't out long, but the pain in her body told her that she wouldn't be sleeping for a while. The jostling of the man's footsteps moved the shrapnel around in her chest and shoulder, causing the metal to rip apart muscle and dig into bone.
The feeling made her scream. She laid her arms across her midsection as he carried her out into the hot sun of the market. The light forced her to close her eyes, but what laid behind her lids wasn't what she wanted. Again, the scene played out, and again she screamed. She felt the man, Owain, pick up the pace. She looked down at her hands only to find that her blouse and knickers were covered in blood. Her blood. The sight horrified her. With so many traumatizing thoughts running through her head, it seemed as if it were going to explode. Her green eyes just couldn't hold back another wave of tears. At that point, her emotions just ran rampant, taking over her heart and soul.
She needed something. She needed her brother, that's what it was. Victoria hid her face in the man's black jacket while she sobbed. She knew the day wasn't going to start well from the moment she woke up Tavish. The worst part of it was the part where she would never see him again.
