Different Masks
The girl smiled and said, "No, I haven't, you're Phenol."

"I'm sorry, but I am not, I'm Phenix and always have been." Phenol said. The last thing I want is for anyone to find out who I am, then they'll find out the secret I hide. "I'm sorry about your friend, but I am not her."

"Yes you are. If you're not Phenol, why'd you stop in front of your old house? And you talk as if you were rich, which only Phenol would do when trying to fool me. You never were quite sucessful at fooling me. Why are you denying who you are?"

The question kind of shocked Phenol. Why am I doing this? Maybe cecause I don't know the first thing about Phenol, she said to herself. Phenol sighed, I've got to get out of here. "I'm sorry, I've gotta go. Adios!"

Phenol started her motorcycle, and drove off. The motorcycle roaring underneath her. She liked the power beneath her, the feeling of total contro. Better stop by the gas station, she said to herself, you're running a little low.

She turned into the nearest Little Joe's Fillup Station and started filling her tank, then walked into the store. There were two men in there, both stopped their conversation and just stared at Phenol as if she were a ghost. She picked up a bag of cornuts and went over to the counter, set them down and told the dumbfounded clerk, "This and gas on lane three."

He rang it up and said, "Ten fourty-five, Phenol."

She looked at him as if he were crazy, "Why is everyone saying I'm Phenol? I am not. I'm Phenix. Now if you'll excuse me..." She set down exact change and left.

The next day, Phenol decided to dye her hair black, wear a pair of her cut-up jeans and a Grateful Dead t-shirt, becaus today was her first day fo school, and she wasnted to look more like a Freak than Phenol. The black lipstick wold help a bit, and pale makeup would help more. She wasn't going to Jefferson high school,
