Her father was a real asshole, always beating her," he laughed a bitter laugh, "I even remember one time we were together and I saw a huge bruise on her back, she said she fell down the stairs, and later on confessed her dad had done it. She started defending him when I threatedned to kill him." He clenched his fist and got real tense.
Phenol suddenly got envious of the girl Flash was talking about. She wanted him to think about her in this way, and strange as it seemed, she wanted him to love her. What are you talking about, Phenol said to herself, you want him to love you. She cast that thought aside.
The got into the class a couple of seconds before the bell and the teacher looked at both of them. "Always the lucky one hu, Flash?" the teacher said to Flash. It was sort of a playful remark and Flash smiled. "Take your seat Flash, so we can get on with class."
Flash took a seat in the very back of the room and Phenol turned her attention to the teacher. "So, you're Phenix," he said, "Well, I'm Mr. Thaifox. Why don't you take a seat in the back and I'll get you a book later. Just share one with someone."

He was looking at her in a way that made her uncomfortable. She squirmed under his gaze ad a small vial shattered on the counter ten feet away from them.
