Nichole, Ethan, and Andrew took an overnight flight from LA to Denver, then rented a car and drove to Pueblo. They found a decent hotel to stay at for the week, despite the sudden boom of business that evening. Andrew and Ethan took one room, and Nichole got another room across the hall. After a quick supper at the hotel's diner, the three met in Nichole's room. After some small talk, they began to wonder about the note they had recieved in LA. "We only have twenty-two days before Michelle's birthday." Andrew reminded them, nervous about the outcome of this case.
"Well, we have about half an hour before we have to go to the bridge." Ethan observed, looking at his watch.
"Let's get there early. I want to see what has happened at the Riverwalk since we were here last. Maybe-" Nichole said, but was interrupted by the hotel phone ringing. Nichole excused herself, then answered the phone.
"Hello? - Yes, this is Ms. Craig. How can I help you? - A message? - Okay, I will be there to get it in a moment. Thank you." Nichole hung up the phone. She looked to Ethan and Andrew. "Well, it's lucky then that we are heading downstairs. I just got a call from the front desk. Apparently, there is a message for me." The three agents rose from their places, walked out of the room, and out to the desk. On the way out the door, Nichole picked up a lavender-colored envelope from the woman at the front desk. They got into the car and drove away to the Riverwalk.
From a distance, a man watched them drive away. The man's pale blue eyes scanned the horizon for them, watched them as they drove away, and proceeded to light a cigarette. He smoked for a little while, letting his thoughts drift with the smoke. "So she has contacted them. Interesting." he thought aloud. "That will give me a better chance of finding her." He threw his cigarette to the ground, stomped on it, and walked to his red pickup truck. He slowly opened the door, then climbed in. For a while, the man sat in the seat, unmoving and lost in thought. "How I long to see her again. I haven't seen her for some time- ten years in fact." he thought aloud again. He started the truck and pulled out of his hiding spot. Slowly and carefully, he made his way to the Riverwalk, hoping that he would not be seen by the three agents he had spotted moments before. As everyone made their way to the Riverwalk, they were unaware they were being watched by another.
