Special Agent Nichole Craig sat quietly in her office chair with nothing to do.
This was one of few times during the year that she did not have a case on her hands. She could simply take a little break before she had to dive into another box of evidence or a folder of papers. She could spin around in her chair like she was a child, and no one would see her childish behavior.
She was in the middle of spinning around when she heard several quick knocks on her door. She stopped, frantically striaghtened her desk and herself, then beckoned this visitor inside. The door opened slowly and with a slight creak. Special Agent Andrew Asch poked his head in and smiled. "Is it okay if I come in?" he asked. He was holding something in his left hand and holding the door open with his right. Nichole motioned him into the office with a smooth motion of her hand. He obeyed, closing the door and pulling up a chair to her desk. He looked a little excited and nervous about something. "What did you need to see me about?" she asked, looking at her nails. She didn't want to waste her relaxation time on what appeared to be a foolish matter. She looked up at him, and she saw him looking at whatever he had in his hand. What was in his hand? "I- I recieved this by mail this afternoon. There is no return address, and our crime lab couldn't get any fingerprints off of it. But- it has something to do with a case of ours."
"What is it?" Nichole asked impaciently. Andrew then placed a note on the table. Nichole brought it closer to her to read it. She read it once. For a moment, she was stunned. She shook her head, then leaned a little closer to read it a second time. She looked up at Andrew. "Do you know what this means?" she asked. Andrew nodded slowly. Nichole looked down at the page again. She couldn't believe what the page had said. "Do you want me to get Ethan?" Andrew asked.
"For now, yes. I have a funny feeling we will need everybody involved with this case soon." Nichole replied. Having left the note with Nichole, Andrew rose out of his chair and walked out of the office in a fast stride. Nichole continued to look at the paper dumbfoundedly. She couldn't believe what she had read.
'Case number 60498. Missing person is alive and in grave danger. Find her before September 29, 2030.'
